What Makes The School of Counselling Different?
This isn't just about passing assessments. It's about becoming the counsellor you want to be through experiential, relational learning.
Experiential, Not Box-Ticking
We focus on who you're becoming, not just what you can demonstrate. Every lesson integrates theory, self-discovery, and practice.
Qualified Counsellors, Not Just Teachers
All our tutors are practicing counsellors who hold you through the emotional intensity of this work. They're facilitators of your growth, not lecturers.
Nurtured, Not Policed
We treat you as an adult learner developing at your own pace. You're supported, challenged, and held – never judged or policed to success.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I work while doing the intensive?
Yes, many of our intensive students work. You'll need Wednesdays free (9:30am-3pm) plus 3+ hours per week for self-study. The intensive pace requires commitment, but it's designed to fit around employment if Wednesdays work for you.
What if I miss a Wednesday due to illness or emergency?
We understand life happens. We'll work with you to catch up on missed content, but regular attendance is essential for the relational learning process. If you anticipate missing multiple sessions, the standard 30-week course may suit you better.
Is the intensive more difficult than the standard course?
It's not more difficult academically – you'll cover the same CPCAB Level 3 content. The difference is pace and emotional intensity. Full-day sessions allow for deeper immersion but can be more emotionally demanding. Both pathways lead to the same qualification.
I completed Level 2 elsewhere. Can I join your intensive?
Absolutely! As long as you have a CPCAB Level 2 qualification, you're welcome. We'll make sure you feel supported from day one.
Do I need to find my own placement or work with real clients?
No. Level 3 doesn't require placement hours. All your practice happens within the course in a safe, supervised environment with other students.
Can I switch to the standard course if the intensive feels too fast?
Potentially, if spaces are available in the standard course and timing aligns. We avoid as much as possible switching between groups. We'll discuss your learning needs during your interview to help you choose the right pathway from the start.
What technology do I need?
A laptop or desktop with webcam, microphone, and stable internet. We use Zoom for lessons and tools like Padlet for activities. Everything is browser-based – no special software needed.
What happens after I complete Level 3?
You could work in voluntary or assistant roles, but most people continue to Level 4 (Diploma) to become fully qualified counsellors. Level 3 is also your entry point for MSc programmes in counselling.
